    # 1984, before Phil or Terry joined, and before Andrew was allowed to sit down. Shane isn't forgetting the lyrics; you can't say "bastard" or "bollocks" on the telly in 1984, but you can say "poofs".

It doesn't matter how familiar the songs are, Shane MacGowan's voice can still give me goosebumps. #

Getting pissed with # & her auntie, # to the # Hope everybody else in the best corner of the # is similarly enjoying this weird annual commemoration of a very fine Jewish fundamentalist moral philosopher who died ~2000 years ago and is still stone dead.

    # the # 30th anniversary Paris gig. Best band ever, Apparently Shane now reckons the band is done. This may change the next time he runs out of money. Glad I got to see them again in Sydney with dear friends 20 years after their last visit. RIP Philip, we miss you.

    # to Peace and Love, the first # album I ever bought. A poor carbon copy of IISFFGWG, but a perfectly fine album judged on its own.

I can't take seriously James Fearnley's contention that Joe Strummer spent ages manually pasting consonants into the tape of Shane's vocals. If you're going to slag off Shane's diction, you have to throw out Tom Waits' entire career with the bathwater. #

Haven't listened to Hell's Ditch in ages. Feel like something sunny and positive this evening. "I will not be reconstructed!" #

Glorious. I think I have this gig as a vinyl bootleg. Shane should stop skiving and get back on rhythm guitar. #

Given that several of the band went teetotal for the sake of their health, I can't help thinking this may be in poor taste. #

Roaring Jack: not quite as good as the #, but to be fair they were labouring under some pretty dreadful 80s haircuts.

The # If I Should Fall From Grace With God is my fave album ever. But I listened to it for about 15 years with cassette tape hiss, thence with MP3 compression loss. Taking the vinyl or CD out of storage occasionally is a revelation.

My parents put on a the # 50th anniversary DVD. I thought of countering with the # 30th, but I'm streaming with tears within 5 minutes. So good to see them all so happy. Never thought I'd live to see it - in the Hordern Pavilion again after 22 years. RIP Philip.
