    @tregeagle Ta. Shirky wants to derive 'ought' from 'is' here. i.e. increasing numbers of students have no choice but online vocational #, therefore we should optimise that. Don't ask what they would choose if free to choose anything & work out how to make that possible.

    I have no problem in principle with Internet/distance # as an alternative to face-to-face. The problems arise when you try to implement the two as different modes of the same course. Limiting each to the intersection of what is possible in both substantially devalues both.
