  1. After some years since the last one I quite fancy a cigarillo, but the "plain" (i.e. photograph of diseased lung) packaging puts me off. Victory! We've discouraged people who don't, and never will, smoke regularly from smoking! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cigarillo

  3. Matt Handley and I played in a # instrumental cover band when we were 9 years old, playing in three different keys 'cause we all had different "EZ-Play" Lennon-McCartney songbooks and knew no better. He later swore me to secrecy, so I mention this at every opportunity.

  4. @tregeagle@mastodon.sdf.org There was an # band called Catherine Wheel. My school chum Matt Handley played guitar for them in their dying days (not saying he's a jinx or anything…). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iArxRNZv_LU http://www.cloudberryrecords.com/blog/?p=83

  7. @tregeagle I fear the lingering stain of web development will haunt us for the rest of our lives. We could each retreat to our neighbouring Tibetan mountaintops and still they will clamber after us with no money but the promise of a great resume-building project.

  8. @tregeagle I had it penciled in for this week, as I've been consolidating my last two # servers into one. Been scaling new sections of the learning curve, as # config has changed slightly and # now depends on # Neeeearly ready to look into it…

  11. @andyc Mind you, I can take a joke as well as the next person, but ruining perfectly good liquorice is just taking it too far.

  12. @andyc My best - well, only - friend from school (@pvc) is 2nd gen Dutch-Australian (Jeez, talk about being dealt a bad hand!) and we used to laugh ourselves sick for hours on the strength of our own cleverness. I take perverse delight in stereotypes because they're so absurd.

  14. Whirring, buzzing, pulsing. Over a decade of # from home in # makes one keenly aware of the amount of negative entropy lavished on lawns. I should have invested in ear protection. Sanity protection, as well.

  20. @kat On a train, in my late teens, I was dimly aware of hushed chatter behind me. When I stood up at my station there was an astonished "It _is_ a boy!" I thought _my_ life was dull, but at least I wasn't reduced to playing "categorise complete strangers" for entertainment.
